The Greatest City in The World the Celebrates Web & Short Film! Founded by Lauren Atkins, NYC Web Fest (NYCWF) started as a one-day gathering in 2014, and has since turned into a global event with filmmakers flying from around the world. Over the past 7 years, creators have flown in from across the US, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Ireland, New Zealand, Argentina, Italy, South Africa, and more. Our Fifth Anniversary in 2018 had filmmakers from across Australia, Canada, the US etc, alongside Grey's Anatomy's Kate Walsh and Best Actress winner Sachi Parker, daughter of Hollywood legend Shirley MacLaine. In 2019, Victor Williams from longtime running CBS sitcom The King of Queens was in attendance & spoke highly of his experience at the festival. Due to the panedemic -in 2020, NYCWF pivoted to an online event that included 52 screenings, 9 livestreams, virtual networking, and an interactive Awards Gala. HuffPost has called NYCWF a "must attend" event for creators and we've received international media coverage. Over the years we've screened projects by Colin Quinn, PBS Digital, IFC, Refinery 29, and hosted a World Premiere from Lewis Black. Former jury members and guests include National Lampoon President & and Television Executive Evan Shapiro, #OscarsSoWhite creator April Reign, South African comedian David Kau, filmmakers Xavier Burgin and C.Fitz, ESPN SportsCaster Arda Ocal, The Grio's Natasha Alford, Suits actor Gina Torres, film & television director Pete Chatmon, actor Victor Williams and Insecure actor Alexander Hodge.
