Oasis of Hope Health Group is pioneering a new course of treatment called the Contreras metabolic integrative therapy (CMIT). When combined with chemotherapy, CMIT resulted in a 75 percent survival rate after five years for patients with advanced, metastatic breast cancer who came to the hospital for their first course of treatment. That compares to a 20 percent survival rate for patients receiving conventional treatment in the U.S., according to the National Cancer Institute's 2007 statistics.
