About Obiloto-Africa
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 affirms that "ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all" is critical to breaking the cycle of poverty. Education is not merely a path to knowledge; it is the most powerful tool for social and economic transformation. At Obiloto-Africa, we believe that no child should be denied access to quality education due to poverty. Our mission is to create a system that supports, empowers and uplifts young minds, ensuring that they have the tools to build a brighter future for themselves and their communities. Obiloto-Africa is founded by Paulinus Obla, a scholar and development economist whose personal story fuels the heartbeat of this initiative. Raised by a single mother in the rural community of Obiloto, Nigeria, Paul faced severe hardship, often sent home from school due to unpaid fees, studying hungry, and watching his dreams of higher education slip away. Can a child who is malnourished, excluded, and burdened with poverty truly dare to dream? For Paul, everything changed when he was awarded a scholarship that revived his hope and reshaped his future. That one opportunity opened the door not only to his undergraduate education but also later to a scholarship that brought him to the United Kingdom. Obiloto-Africa is his way of giving back—and of multiplying that miracle in the lives of many others. Obiloto-Africa’s vision is to promote quality and holistic education and to offer scholarship opportunities to underserved youth in rural Africa.
