About Obscure Belts

Bryan Schultz is the inventor and owner of Obscure Belts. He started the company in 2005 after receiving his MFA in Sculpture from UW-Milwaukee. Our unique belt buckle designs use a magnetic mechanism to attach to an adjustable sizing stud. To adjust your belt size unscrew and move the stud to a different hole. Together, the buckle and stud act like a simple lock and offer cool ways to clasp your belt. Each buckle design is a work of art. Bryan sculpts all of the original models out of wood. The buckles are made with steel, magnets, and puzzle-like precision. The design process merges engineering, sculpture, and art to create a completely new type of belt (seriously, completely new and unique. We have patented designs and everything). We currently make belts in standard smooth finishes of black and brown full grain leather, and distressed grey leather. Our handmade belts are one solid, thick piece of premium American leather meant to stand up to years of use. We work with a specialty tannery in the heart of Milwaukee, Wisconsin to make all our leather hides. Each leather strap is handmade to order and custom-sized. These aren't off-the-shelf leather belts. These are custom-fit, small-batch, artisan belts made with American leather and the coolest buckles around.
