About Ocean Atlantic Rentals
Ocean Atlantic Rentals, Inc. (also referred to as OAR) was started in 1979 by Greg and Eden Honeycutt. The couple had the foresight to see the need for certain items by visitors vacationing on the Outer Banks. What began as renting a few beach chairs, boogie boards, and the occasional appliance, turned into a labor of love for the Honeycutts. As development of the area grew over the years, so did the needs of the visitors. Ocean Atlantic Rentals now operates from four store locations and several distribution warehouses throughout Currituck and Dare counties. It offers delivery service 7 days a week, from Corova to Hatteras Island. OAR offers 80+ items to the Outer Banks vacationer and local. In 2004, OAR expanded into a new wedding/event equipment division, Ocean Atlantic Event Rentals. Again responding to the needs of their customers, this division of OAR began offering tables, chairs, tents, etc. for the wedding and event business in this tourist driven area. Also in 2004, OAR built and opened Island Revolution Surf Shop and Skatepark, in Corolla NC. Building on the knowledge gathered by their years in the water sports and board sports industries, it was a logical fit for the parent company to pursue this retail operation on the northern Outer Banks.
