About Oceanic Historical Society
From its inception, the Oceanic has stood as one of White Star Line’s greatest endeavors and most enduring mysteries. Despite falling short of realization, this ambitious undertaking pioneered a new era in British maritime engineering—influencing subsequent passenger ships for decades. Alongside other dedicated historians, I aim to highlight these contributions while promoting research into related liners and historical topics. My goal is to showcase each researched area as individual puzzle pieces that, when pieced together, unveil a comprehensive overview of one of the most ambitious ventures in maritime history. Below is a visual compilation of my research into the Oceanic, 3D modeled by me and skillfully rendered by Sheridan Finnegan from TLO Renders. It encapsulates all available contemporary descriptions of the final design, dated February 1930, considering all relevant context and design elements uncovered during my research into Harland & Wolff over the years. As founder and one of five contributing historians of the Oceanic Historical Society, I intend to provide a detailed, written account of my findings thus far.
