About Office of Sport

At the Office of Sport, we can sum up our purpose with three simple words – Everyone Plays Here. We believe that everyone in NSW has the right to participate in sport and active recreation and we strive to bring this purpose to life through our work. As the lead state government agency for sport and active recreation, we provide policies, programs, leadership, funding and infrastructure to improve health outcomes, connect communities and make a stronger NSW. So, what exactly do we do? Let’s break it down! - We run10 Sport and Recreation Centres across the state – from Lennox Head to Jindabyne, hosting everything from school camps to professional sports teams. - We manage four Olympic Sport Venues, where some of our best and brightest Olympians come to train and compete. - We support major sports events in NSW, which in the last few years has included the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2022 FIBA Women’s World Cup, with the 2027 Rugby and Netball World Cups on the horizon for our team. - We deliver strategies and action plans to improve outcomes for different populations in sport and active recreation – from women and girls to First Nations people, multicultural communities, people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ people and more. - We operate grant programs, assisting sport and active recreation clubs and associations all over NSW to access the funds they need to grow participation. - And much, much more! With offices throughout the state, we are an organisation that works to create, support and promote inclusive and accessible opportunities for everyone, embracing a broad understanding of what it means to participate in sport and active recreation for different communities and adapting to emerging trends. Our team members are collaborative, creative, hardworking and innovative, brought together by a common goal of ensuring sport and active recreation is a place for all people in NSW. 📄Rules of engagement: https://bit.ly/3aprQEk
