About Ohio Educational Library Media Association

The Ohio Educational Library Media Association (OELMA) is the premier organization for teacher-librarians within the state of Ohio. OELMA is an organization dedicated to professional development, student literacy and achievement, and technological excellence in Ohio’s schools. OELMA supports our members’ efforts to implement guidelines and standards through educational programs, publications, and our network of state affiliate organizations. The Ohio Educational Library Media Association (OELMA) was created in 1976 when the Ohio Association of School Librarians and the Educational Media Council of Ohio joined together. It quickly became and remains the premier Ohio organization for school library media personnel. Members include PreK-12 teachers and library media specialists, educational aides, college students, university professors, technology specialists, vendors, authors, and literary specialists throughout Ohio and other states. The organization is governed by a President, Past-President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and a board representing various geographical areas of Ohio. Additionally, we employ Park East as our fiscal agent at the OELMA office in Highland Heights, OH.
