Jim and Mary Competti are husband and wife authors, bloggers and co-owners of Old World Garden Farms, a 3 acre self-sufficient farm situated in Central Ohio. Their combined passion for all things Home & Garden comes through loud and clear in their unique, motivational and energizing presentations. In 2010, seeking to slow down and simplify the typical life of 2 professionals balancing a family and full-time careers, they began Old World Garden Farms. When they are not on their farm, they travel to speak on everything from gardening, to simple living and following your dreams. They also co-own and write for two additional websites, makeyourmeals.com, and thisismygarden.com Together, they have published two top-selling books, Growing Simple (2016), and Raised Row Gardening (2018). Starting from scratch, they worked together to convert an overgrown 3-acre field into a self-sustaining farm and home that could feed their family and soul. Their only requirements: Do it together, keep it simple, and most of all, have fun! Using recycled materials and a limited budget, they transformed the 3 acre lot into a mini-farm – filled with gardens, flowerbeds, chickens, honey bees, and a small orchard & vineyard. In the process, they began developing their now popular Raised Row Gardening method – a simple, low-maintenance and enjoyable way to grow backyard vegetables.
