About Olney Help
OLNEY HELP is an all volunteer, 501c3 registered non-profit created in 1969 to provide short-term emergency food and financial assistance to residents of the Greater Olney Area. Our service area includes residents of Ashton, Brinklow, Brookeville, Olney, Sandy Spring and parts of Derwood. We also provide referrals to other organizations and agencies as needed. Our purpose is to prevent families from going hungry, keep them safe in their homes from eviction or utility cut-offs and provide crucial medicine or medical equipment. This program acts as a safety-net for neighbors who occasionally experience need, not a long-term solution for chronic financial issues. As a small, local organization serving our community, Olney HELP acts as a bridge for our fellow neighbors; first to mitigate the immediate need and then to provide referral assistance to aid our residents in need with long-term food and/or financial problems.
