Since 1984, Omstar / D-1280X, Inc. has pioneered the design and use of its DX1 [formerly D1280X] line of revolutionary biogenic, non hazardous, fuel lubricants composed of both long and short chain esters made from only carbon, hydrogen and oxygen molecules in a mineral oil carrier. When used with any hydrocarbon based fuel such as gasoline / diesel / biofuel / coal, Omstar's patented fuel lubricants enable reduced fuel usage by 7 - 23% while at the same time reducing harmful emissions by up to 87% and improving engine life by cleaning the engine and reducing heat and wear. DX1 is registered with the Environmental Protection Agency as a "combustion improver (anti smoke agent), upper cylinder lubricant, gum solvent, valve lubricant, cetane improver, and carburetor and choke cleaner" for diesel and gasoline engines. It is 99.99976% ash-free upon combustion. The negatively charged oxygen molecules in the long chain esters in Omstar's DX1 lubricants bind to positively charged sites on metal surfaces in an engine – allowing the esters to adhere to the surface of the metal in the form of an iron “soap” film and to provide superior lubrication and protection against wear – this process is called “chemisorption” and creates better lubrication than conventional oil lubricants in a way that traditional oils cannot do. The short chain esters in DX1 dissolve deposts and varnishes in engines and keep oxidation products produced during combustion, such as sulfur, in suspension to be captured by the oil filters.
