About One Heart At A Time Foundation

One Heart At A Time Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to restoring hope, dignity, and opportunity for individuals and families in transition. Our mission is to ensure every person feels seen, heard, and supported, and to create pathways that empower them to move forward with confidence. This work is deeply personal to our founder, Anita Hartog. Having faced her own struggles as a teenager and later walking through the pain of addiction and loss within her family, Anita experienced firsthand the silent battles many carry. Those experiences ignited her commitment to mental health advocacy and ultimately led to the creation of One Heart At A Time. What began as a response to personal tragedy has grown into a mission of equipping others with the resources, encouragement, and support needed to heal and thrive. Through youth mentorship, mental health advocacy, and transitional housing support, we’ve seen the transformative power of compassion, resilience, and community. In building this foundation, Anita also recognized the need for ongoing personal empowerment, which inspired her journey into professional coaching; extending the mission into one on one guidance and leadership development. Where We’re Headed: We are expanding transitional housing partnerships and supportive services, with a focus on Los Angeles and surrounding communities. We are building a Life Skills & Resilience curriculum that covers employment readiness, financial literacy, renter education, and family wellness, delivered through workshops, coaching, and a digital learning hub. Our vision includes developing the One Heart Ranch experience, a nature based program with farm to table learning, equine assisted activities, and restorative spaces designed for healing and growth. We are also formalizing referral pipelines with schools, shelters, and faith-based partners; growing a bilingual outreach team; and launching a mentorship network to ensure lasting impact.
