About One in Four Magazine
One in Four magazine is social enterprise Social Spider CIC’s flagship project. Social Spider uses media projects to generate social benefits. One in Four is the first England-wide magazine about mental health and wellbeing written by people with mental health difficulties. One in Four focuses on hope, inspiration and pragmatic help. One in Four focuses on the challenges and opportunities that life throws up for everyone, with focus on providing pragmatic advice and real life experiences. One in Four is aimed at people who are getting on with their lives whilst overcoming the range of challenges that living with the experience of mental health difficulties can bring. One in Four’s approach does not focus on mental health difficulties, but looks at the ways in which mental health difficulties affect everyday life, be it work, relationships, housing, holidays. One in Four shows that people with mental health difficulties have the same aspirations, hopes and fears as everyone else but face some additional challenges in achieving them. One in Four takes complicated information about how things work and how they fit together and presents it in an easily understandable format so that it is accessible to all in the community. As an independent magazine, One in Four can represent a wide range of opinions and experiences and does not have its hands tied by organisational agendas. One in Four has a highly developed editorial policy that aims to celebrate what is hopeful, publicise what is useful and help people to access help, support, treatment and advice. Editor Mark Brown experiences mental health difficulties himself and the magazine works with a variety of people who experience mental health difficulties. One in Four involves people with mental health difficulties in the production of the magazine.
