One World One Smile (OWOS) started in Tanzania in 2014 and grew into a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit so we could bring urgent, life-saving dental care to people who have nowhere else to turn. Our mission is simple but urgent: to eliminate preventable deaths and suffering caused by untreated oral disease. At One World One Smile, we believe no one should die from a toothache. Yet across Tanzania and in refugee communities, millions face that unthinkable reality. What begins as simple pain can become a life-threatening infection, especially for those already battling conditions like HIV/AIDS or diabetes. Through mobile dental camps, we set up outdoor clinics that serve hundreds in a single day. We partner with hospitals to build sustainable dental units so communities have ongoing access to care. We teach oral hygiene and train local professionals, multiplying the impact for years to come. And through our DentalSwat initiative, we connect international volunteers with the communities that need them most. The impact is real: in just one outreach, we treated over 500 refugees in Nyarugusu, one of the largest refugee camps in the world. Each patient left not only with treatment, but with dignity, relief, and the promise of a healthier future. But we can’t do this alone.
