About One Yoga, a nonprofit organization
MISSION: One Yoga improves health equity in our community through access to a broad range of teachings and practices of yoga. VISION: One Yoga breaks down social, cultural, and economic barriers to yoga. Our space is welcoming to all. HISTORY: One Yoga opened its doors in July 2002. In April 2005, seeing the need to make yoga and mindfulness practices more broadly accessible, a group of instructors took the initiative to apply for 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. The application was approved in March 2007, allowing staff and teachers to implement new programming, including a community outreach program; sliding-fee rates for memberships and classes; and mission-driven classes, workshops, and series. In December 2010, One Yoga moved from Franklin & Lyndale to its studio on W. 26th St. in Minneapolis, its home for nearly 10 years. In October 2020, after closing to in-person classes for more than half a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, One Yoga went completely virtual by ending the lease on the 26th St. location. In April 2022, One Yoga opened a new studio in the Ivy Arts Building in the Seward neighborhood of Minneapolis. CLASSES & PROGRAMS: One Yoga currently offers 23 hybrid classes (in-studio and live stream), as well as 10 live stream-only classes per week. June through September we offer 7 weekly outdoor classes in the park. In 2021, we served an average of 45 students per day and 151 unique clients each month. We host regular workshops, series, and advanced trainings inspired by our mission to advance health equity. In 2021, we served a total of 743 unique clients. Through our Sliding-Fee Program, we offer reduced rates on class passes and memberships for individuals experiencing financial hardships. In 2021, we served 59 sliding-fee students each month on average.
