About Online Reading Tutor
"Helping smart kids who struggle with reading®" is our passion. Most of our students are from United States and Canada, but we also help or have helped students in Ireland, France, Korea, Serbia, Russia, Singapore, Uraguay, Guatemala, New Zealand and Australia. Goal: "All students reading fluently by the end of grade three." After grade three the curriculum changes from learning to read to reading to learn. The phonemic, phonological and decoding skills that are required for fluent reading are seldom taught after third grade. Dyslexic and other struggling readers are left behind. Children who struggle with reading after grade 3 are four times more likely to be high school drops than their more proficient peers. The social and economic consequences of this illiteracy are staggering. Fortunately with the use of modern software technology, these students can become fluent readers. We specialize in helping students who have a specific reading disability or dyslexia. Why Some Smart Kids Struggle With Reading: The Science of Dyslexia presentation explains how the brain reads and discusses the specific exercises that wire the reading centres in the dyslexic brain. This workshop has been presented to educators in Arizona, New York, Florida, British Columbia, Newfoundland & Labrador and Ontario.
