About Open Arts Alliance
Theatre is who we ARE, but it's not ALL we do. What we DO is use an intentional blend of arts education and community engagement to turn artists into members of a wider community. Our commitment is not just to the show, but to the mentorship of each individual. Through performance, community service and leadership, our students learn vital life skills to be the star of their own story. Our mission is to make ART, THEATRE, MUSIC and DANCE accessible to students, ages 6-18, families and senior citizens who have Alzheimer's Disease and dementia. We further our mission through classes, programs, and community outreach, using the arts as a common ground for conversations. Our holistic approach sees theatre not as just an end-product, but a process by which we can improve the lives of our students—young and young at heart— while furthering the landscape of arts in our community and town. Our student leadership councils empower the next generation of arts volunteers to engage with civic responsibility and community service based on empathy fostered within the arts.
