OPEN CULTURE ATLAS - collaborative cultural geolocation platform WHAT – Open Culture Atlas is a non-profit project of collaborative cultural geolocation born in October 2013. It’s the first search engine of the living cultures, a place where anyone can add and find events, places, opportunities, and professionals in any area. But it’s also a web portal for developing akin projects based on a spirit of collaborative development. WHY – The perspectives for those who produce culture in Italy have features of disaggregation, which is the main reason for their limited success. So it was necessary to create a collector and connector for “cultural experiences”, a foothold and a flywheel at the same time for this widespread but shattered imaginative skills. HOW – Open Culture Atlas is the result of the integration between WordPress, CMS provided with GNU General Public License, and OpenStreetMap, collaborative project of world mapping based on principles of free diffusion. All the Open Culture Atlas are released with Creative Commons license. WHO – The planning and coordination of the web portal is developed by the Social Promotion Association “Open Culture Atlas”, founded by Francesca Santarelli and Sergio Calderale, sprung by the experience of Tropico del Libro. We pursue a straight direction: to contribute changing the usual way to think work, family, politics, culture, with the aim of creating more sustainable and happy lifestyles and work styles. Open Culture Atlas is for everybody who understands the spirit of the initiative and desires to share it.
