About Open Door Outreach Center
Servicing 14 zip codes in Oakland County Michigan, Open Door Outreach Center provides food, clothing and emergency services to individuals and families in need. Unique to the industry, Choice Food Pantry. Clients are able to shop monthly and choose their grocery items in a small market setting. Choices include fresh season produce, meats, dairy, baked goods and non-perishable foods. The Choice Food Pantry also assists with emergency food situations. Holiday meal programs are also offered to Clients. Crisis Funding through our Client Services department, providing emergency funds to prevent evictions, utility shut offs, car repairs, fuel only gas cars, medical needs, furniture and more four our qulified clients in crisis. Referall Program thru our client Services provides connections with agencies such as Michigan Works, HID, MSHDA, Veterans agencies, local Churchs and more to help meet the needs of our communities. Food Pantry and Client Services is supported by generous donors. Open Door Thrift Store, open to the public, also supports the food pantry, client services and operational cost of the Open Door Outreach Center. Donated clothing and household items are given to qualified individuals and families with our voucher system free of charge. The Open Door Outreach Center is 98% volunteer staffed. The volunteers donate their time and expertise in every area of the outreach, serving as the main workforce. OUR MISSION: Recognizing the human dignity of all persons, Open Door Primary Mission, in the spirit of interfaith charity, is to provide emergency services of food, clothing and referral information to families in need.
