About Open Door Scotland

Open Door Scotland is a youth charity that works with some of West Lothian’s most vulnerable young people at risk of becoming homeless. Many may have been affected by family breakdown, have been physically, emotionally or sexually abused, have poor mental health or well-being, are socially isolated and will struggle to find or sustain employment due to lack of qualifications or experience. We provide a flexible visiting support service that actively promotes and encourages independent living. We aim to support young people in the short term, working towards sustainable housing solutions offering long term independent living and improved life chances. We help reduce youth homelessness and also assists young people to go on to fulfill their potential. We are committed to working in partnership with other agencies in the provision of quality services for vulnerable young people and in advancing the aims of social justice by assisting young people to take their place in society. Flats Open Door Scotland has 9 Supported Flats throughout West Lothian that can accommodate up to 16 young people from the age of 16-26. The flats are fully furnished and most of them are shared accommodation. The aim of the Supported Flats is to prepare young people for their own tenancy. They are allocated a dedicated Support Worker who will work with them to give personal and practical support, helping them to develop self-confidence and the skills needed to live independently. Craigshill Supported Service We have a 10 bed supported accommodation. Each young person is assigned a Project Worker who will assess need and in conjunction with the young person develop a person centered support plan. Outreach These services allow Open Door to work with young people through their transitional journey from being homeless and potentially roofless to living in settled secure accommodation, tailoring support packages to meet their needs.
