About Open Minds Training & Consultancy

Hi. I am a freelance trainer, passionate about mental health first aid. I have made a career change following a period of 15 years working in the arts and charity sector, of which seven were as director of an organisation developing an Arts Centre from scratch in an old, disused Town Hall. My decision to make this change began after we had a 17-year old musician, who was due to perform with us, tragically took his own life. This was a real wake-up call that organisations like ours needed to be better equipped to support the people we work with. I became aware of MHFA after talking to a colleague and took the first aider course. I loved it and felt passionately that more people should benefit from this training, so made the decision to invest half my savings to qualify to become a first aid trainer myself; and I'm now on a bit of a mission to get the message out there.
