Operation Recuperation was created in March 2020 by Oxfordshire resident Rachel Sherwood who was inspired by thousands of NHS workers coming out of retirement to help during the pandemic. She started asking people to donate stays in their holiday homes, hotels and B&Bs to give frontline NHS workers a break from the Covid-19 fight. Two years later, Rachel and her team of volunteers have gifted stays to over 1,000 healthcare staff and their loved ones in partnership with 180 private individuals, hotel groups and holiday rental companies.
