About OPERON

OPERON is a private Spanish company founded as a family business in 1973 engaged during the last 50 years in R&D innovation and manufacturing of In Vitro Diagnostics IVD. Active in the clinical diagnostics, in the veterinary field and in the food industry checking frauds in milk. The company is ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 13.485:2008 certified complying with cGMP . OPERON employs above 80 highly skilled and experienced people, 20 of them involved in R&D work. OPERON controls the whole added value chain of a new IVD test. Starting with the design of the raw materials, producing the kits and selling the IVD test to the end users through distributors or through its partners channels. OPERON is active in 4 different areas: 1. Lateral Flow Tests, more than 20 years experience. Working on a 3rd quantitative generation using fluorescent particles and a portable Point Of Care POC reading instrument. 2. Molecular Biology tests, based on different technologies: hybridization on strip (Opegen products), and Real Time PCR. All these products are based on the capture with specific probes of DNA fragments amplified by a conventional PCR. 3. Raw Materials: Develops Monoclonal Antibodies and Recombinant Antigens and produces them also in bioreactors and fermentors at industrial scale. 4. All our know how is available as a service. Development of new Monoclonal Antibodies and Recombinant Antigens, large scale production, purification. The development of innovative IVD tests is our most challenging task. Exporting more than 90% of its turnover mainly to Europe, US, Japan and 50 more countries. OPERON currently sells its brand name products using a network of distributors around the world, but our largest activity is to manufacture OEM kits or to supply in bulk to leading companies in the IVD sector.
