About Oregon Quant Group

Our mission is to bring together the best minds at the University of Oregon and develop their ability to thrive as professionals in the field of Quantitative finance as well as in fields adjacent. OQG's culture is built off the idea that students will grow rapidly in an environment that supports them in learning about what they are the most interested in. As a result we have developed a robust pathway for driven students to explore their interests based on their aspirations, whether this is Mathematics, Finance, Coding or the intersection of all three. The OQG is comprised of two teams. Our research subdivision specializes in developing cutting edge, data backed research on a wide array of alternative assets as well as trading strategies that are built to be applicable to real world markets. Our technical team specializes in the creation of back tested models that are also used for the execution of trades or for the identification of arbitrage opportunities. Our technical team will work on a wide array of projects of interest which can range from the development of Machine Learning models made in house to market simulations with stochastic outcomes to name a few examples.
