About Origin Gluten-Free Bakery
We are a 100% gluten-free bakery, with a wide range of classic bakery options from breads to eclairs. Since 2009 we have opened 2 locations in Victoria BC, and currently employee 25 staff. The gluten-free diet is essential to celiacs, but has become something else to many others - a fad, a health trend, a joke, a controversy. The baked goods usually cost more and taste worse than their traditional counterparts! What needs to be clear is that a single crumb of gluten can make a celiac sick, so no, they are not being high maintenance by asking if you use separate utensils to make their meal. The celiac community is estimated to be about 1% of the population, and our growing customer demographic also includes those with gluten intolerance, wheat sensitivity, and other health conditions such as autoimmune disease. We opened Origin Bakery so celiacs would have a place to feel normal, safe and excited about food. For the rest of the population, we’d like to change some assumptions. Our gluten-free baking actually tastes great! We use a range of up to 20 different natural ingredients for ‘flour,’ and offer healthy breads that are nothing like the frozen rice breads in grocery stores. Our treats range from healthy granola bars to gourmet cakes and pastries, and if you didn’t tell anyone the cake or pie you bought was gluten-free they wouldn’t be able to tell at family dinner. We've built a business that celiacs trust, with delicious options to impress everyone.
