About Orwell + Austen

In 2012 I established the ethical and sustainability focused luxury knitwear company Orwell + Austen. Orwell + Austen create contemporary luxury knitwear in cashmere, fine wool, and cashmere and silk. The brand has recently expanded into homeware offering a collection of cashmere and fine wool blend cushion covers in some of our statement, signature designs. For 2021 we will be increasing our size offering and looking toward expanding our homeware collection and introducing a menswear collection. Each Orwell + Austen piece is designed in house in the UK. The final pieces are created by a small family run factory in Nepal who specialise in cashmere garment production. Our manufacturer has over 25 years experience in the cashmere industry. The cashmere and fine yarns are sourced from the Himalayan region and are of the highest quality. The brand ethos is contemporary luxury, made in an ethical and sustainable way. We specialise in modern, playful knits that are trans seasonal. The brand has been name checked and featured in the Elle, Red, Woman & Home, The Huffington Post, Metro, Evening Standard, Hello, Ok, the Telegraph, the Times, Stylist, Grazia online, Daily Mail, Harpers Bazaar, Mayfair Times, Absolutely Notting Hill, Look magazine, House and Home, Yorkshire Evening Post (who ran a profile on the brand), Country Living, Cosmopolitan, Sheerluxe, and several regional publications. The brand has also been worn by a number of A-list celebrities, high profile television personalities, prominent fashion bloggers and influencers.
