At Otem Collective, we believe children grow best in families, and we aim to support and strengthen the families and communities that surround children. We strengthen families and communities to care for vulnerable children. Globally, approximately 80% of children in orphanages have at least one living parent, which means that children are often placed in orphanages because of poverty not because they lack families. When given support, families would choose to keep their children. Otem Collective seeks to address the root causes of poverty that lead to family separation by partnering with grassroots organizations that focus on family strengthening and community development. We also help organizations transition their models of care from orphanages to family-based care.
