About Our Harbour / Le havre

Our Harbour strives to create a future where people living with mental health conditions can receive the necessary support to maximize their mental and physical health. To help create this future, our organization provides a supportive long-term housing program on Montreal’s South Shore for people of diverse backgrounds. We offer life-management support, links with resources in the surrounding community, and individual assistance in integrating with society. Our Harbour also educates the wider community about mental illness. For the 156,000 Anglophones living within Québec’s Montérégie region, Our Harbour is the sole resource for long-term residential services for people with mental illness. In addition, we provide support for anglophone and francophone residents alike. Along with our core values of fostering care and community into every action we take, our organization is unlike any other of its kind. “Community is a pattern of life where individuals find inclusion, care and a sense of personhood.” - Gabriel Moran, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Humanities and the Social Sciences at New York University We currently have: - 30 adult residents - 10 apartments - 3 residents per apartment - Each resident has a private bedroom - Common areas are shared. Monthly Program Fees cover: - Coordinator meets with the three residents of each apartment weekly. - Coordinator meets each resident at least once per month; more if needed. - Support and friendship of a warm, caring community of volunteers. - Individualized support plan. - Monthly calendar of recreational, physical, educational, social activities and outings. - Shared housing; utilities; telephone (including long-distance service in North America), unlimited internet, insurance, refundable cleaning deposit, pooled apartment improvement fund.
