About Our Lady of The Atonement Catholic Church
Founded in 1983 with the gracious permission of Archbishop Patrick Flores, Our Lady of The Atonement Catholic Church has been a beacon of faith and community in San Antonio, Texas. What began with a humble gathering of converts from the Episcopal Church has blossomed into a vibrant parish family dedicated to spreading the love and teachings of Jesus Christ. In 1994, we expanded our mission by establishing The Atonement Academy, a testament to our commitment to education and nurturing young minds. From its inception, our school has flourished, evolving into a comprehensive institution serving students from PreK3 through Grade 12. Recognizing the growing needs of our parish, in 2006, we undertook a significant expansion of our church and school facilities. This expansion not only accommodated our burgeoning congregation but also provided space for a new addition to our school, ensuring that we could continue to provide a high-quality education in a nurturing environment. In 2017, our parish received a special blessing from Pope Francis as we were incorporated into the Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter, headquartered in Houston, Texas. As part of this non-geographical Catholic diocese, under the guidance of Bishop Steven J. Lopes, we join 40 other Catholic parishes and communities across North America in our shared journey of faith and service. At Our Lady of The Atonement Catholic Church, we are not just a congregation; we are a family united in our devotion to God and our mission to spread His love and teachings.
