About Our Life Books

Our Life Books was founded in early 2017 in Finland. It’s a socially significant project originated Edu & DevLABs of OAMK (Oulu University of Applied Sciences). According to a World Health Organization (WHO) report (2015), "the number of people living with dementia worldwide is currently estimated at 47.5 million and is projected to increase to 75.6 million by 2030. The number of cases of dementia are estimated to more than triple by 2050". People with dementia are suffering not only by themselves but also their friends, family and especially their partners join. Although certain medications can slow down the progression of dementia, there is no cure for it. We understand and can truly feel the difficulties for families of patients. Nevertheless, it is not the end of life. The patients and their families should still have the right to enjoy the quality of life . Therefore, we are designing a book to help couples maintain their relationship while potentially or already dealing with effects of dementia. With our book, people will receive useful and helpful tips on how to take care dementia patients. Couples are able to record their own memories with their loved ones, both in form of words and pictures. There is no correct age to start storing memories for the future, however with the large number of pages available one can begin collecting memories already at the age of 50 or earlier. This book makes a great and meaningful gift for oneself or loved ones. Our live, our memories.
