About Our Little Roses Foreign Mission Society
Our Little Roses is a non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to rescuing female children in Honduras from situations of risk, empowering and transforming them into successful women. Our Little Roses FMS, Inc. is dedicated to breaking the chains of generational poverty in Honduras by empowering girls through education, faith, and love. We provide vulnerable girls with a safe, loving environment where the girls enjoy the basics of life that had not previously been afforded to them; food, a safe home, education, health care, a foundation of faith, and the gift of being able to dream about and prepare for the future. Since our inception, Our Little Roses has witnessed amazing impact not only upon the young girls that come to us, but amongst the surrounding community as well. With 30 years of promoting success among girls, 6 facilities including a health and dental clinic open to the public, and 69 girls and young women with us in 2018, Our Little Roses strives to connect donors, sponsors, foundations, and faith communities both near and far to our ministry. In a country of 8 million inhabitants, 60 percent of Hondurans live below the poverty line. In rural areas, that rises to 65 percent. Two-thirds of children are malnourished and lack access to safe water, sanitation, and education. Less than half of Honduran children complete more than three years of education and approximately 7 percent have a high school education. Through our continued dedication, guidance, and empowerment, 97% of the girls of Our Little Roses graduate high school and 21% continue to higher education to achieve Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate degrees! We celebrate the successes of education, because knowledge is the power that breaks cycles of poverty.
