About Our Veteran's Haven
Our Veteran’s Haven (OVH) is located on six acres in Forrestdale, Western Australia. The facility includes a purpose built training/yoga hall, consult rooms, office space, kitchen and area for social gatherings, plus 4.5 acres of bush trails and quiet space; and a future hobby workshop area is currently under development. The OVH facilities are veteran built, owned and managed, and are being provided under a benevolent, cost neutral arrangement to deliver services in collaboration with Our Veterans Forge (OVF), and on occasion other select charities. Our vision for Our Veterans Haven (OVH) is to create a calm, supportive and empowering environment that fosters the renewal of veterans and first responders facing mental health challenges. By providing a safe space surrounded by relaxing bushlands and offering opportunities for creativity and purposeful activities, we aim to restore a sense of identity, community, and purpose, helping veterans to reclaim their lives. The OVH vision is summarised in three main tenets: • Rest – Providing a safe, supportive and restful environment in nature for reflection which is conducive to engagement in activities and socially at a pace that works for each veteran. • Create – Providing a state of the are multi-purpose facility and hobby space that fosters opportunities for both social and practical engagement through creative and innovative pursuits, we help individuals overcome the sense of loss of community, identity, meaning, and purpose that often comes with service-related challenges. • Renew – Providing opportunities for veterans and first responders with diagnosed mental health issues to experience personal and social renewal, by enabling them to reengage, rebuild and renew through a sense of community and developing creative skills. Our aim is to empower veterans to unlock their full potential through directed activities that promote personal growth and renewed purpose.
