About OUT at the Movies International Film Festival
OUT at the Movies, Winston-Salem’s LGBTQIA+ film series and festival, was founded in 2004 by Rex Welton and Lee Mecum. Created to bring queer cinema to its beloved hometown, OUT at the Movies exists to build safe and accepting spaces where queer people and their allies can experience film and art. We are a volunteer run organization, led by a dynamic Board of Directors whose career experience touches the worlds of film, entertainment, nonprofit, and so much more.
