About Outrun the Sun

Outrun the Sun, Inc. (OTS) is a nonprofit organization based in Indianapolis that supports skin cancer education and melanoma research. OTS has fueled the work of 28 melanoma research scientists at top medical institutions. Partnering with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, OTS helped launch the largest one-day sun safety initiative in the United States, which is conducted at the Indianapolis 500. OTS developed a sun safety patch program, which is used by Girl Scout councils nationwide. In conjunction with the Indiana University School of Medicine, OTS is expanding a dermatologic curriculum for medical students that will help all students learn to detect skin cancer in its earliest stages. The program, which has the potential to dramatically increase rates of early detection, will be available to medical schools throughout the U.S.
