About Owlsworth
Established in 1991, Owlsworth's philosophy of providing a sympathetic exceptional construction service for period properties and historic structures remains unchanged. Recognised as one of the leading specialist contractors within the building conservation sector, we pride ourselves on the excellence and professionalism with which every project is managed. The management team have importantly remained hands on and the company's understanding and appreciation of traditional properties, building techniques and materials has continued to evolve and grow. Unlike many companies, Owlsworth directly employs the majority of the experienced tradesmen that are essential for any successful historic building project. By employing our own stonemasons, carpenters, lime plasterers, brick and flint layers and blacksmiths we are able to ensure that the quality of your project meets our own self imposed high standards. The senior management at Owlsworth have all been employed within the conservation industry for their entire working lives. They understand the importance of using appropriate materials and most significantly craftsmen, rather than tradesmen, to achieve sympathetic, stunning and long lasting results. Whether it is the smallest area of repair or indeed an entirely new structure to be built in traditional materials but to modern standards Owlsworth excel. Excellence is achieved via the cornerstone of our business which is our people. At Owlsworth we invest heavily to ensure our craftsmen are amongst the most skilled in the country. Our commitment to this is demonstrable through our apprenticeship scheme which stretches across the main disciplines and consistently produces award winning craftsmen. Training does not stop there as our craftsmen are encouraged to gain a more comprehensive knowledge of all the trades. For example, amongst our workforce are SPAB and Historic Scotland fellows.
