Collins, P.E. offers all the engineering design services for building systems necessary for construction projects, including heating ventilating and air conditioning systems, electrical, fire protection, and plumbing. The office has developed considerable expertise in the area of sustainable design with many high performance projects in design and construction. We are familiar with both the LEED and Passive House Planning standards and have two LEED Platinum new buildings completed, and are completing a 10 story Passive House Certified project. Professional Qualifications: The staff has four registered Professional Engineers in the states of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts, and three LEED Accredited Professionals. Description of Services and Project Work for the Architectural and Construction Industries - Feasibility studies for projects including cost estimating in collaboration with qualified estimators - Utility studies and operating cost calculations, also energy audits and payback calculations - Inspections and surveys of existing buildings prior to the design phase, also due diligence and pre-purchase reports - Design of systems to be constructed and installed, supervision of draftsmen and production of working drawings. Documents are produced using computer aided drafting (CAD), supporting industry-standard software programs. - Review of bids furnished by the various contractors, bid leveling, change order review, review of contractor's record, and award of contract. - Regular observation of construction to ensure compliance with construction documents, with reports sent to owner, contractor and municipal authorities. - Review of shop drawings furnished by contractor with checks for compliance, dimensions and competence in general. - Commissioning and air flow measurement. - Special Inspections in New York City. - Via consultants we can provide geothermal well and site engineering design.
