About Pace/MacGill Gallery

Pace/MacGill Gallery was founded in 1983 by Peter MacGill, in collaboration with partners Arne Glimcher of The Pace Gallery and Richard Solomon of Pace Prints and Pace African & Oceanic Art. Since its inception, the gallery has established itself as one of the premier venues dealing in modern and contemporary photography, presenting over 350 exhibitions and publishing numerous exhibition catalogues. Pace/MacGill Gallery strives to disseminate the work of its artists to museums, private collectors, and corporate collections around the world. The gallery has had the privilege of representing such masters of photography as Harry Callahan, Robert Frank, Irving Penn, John Szarkowksi, Richard Avedon, William Christenberry, Emmet Gowin, Josef Koudelka, Richard Misrach, Nicholas Nixon, David Goldblatt, Jim Goldberg, Judith Joy Ross, Fazal Sheikh, Frederick Sommer, JoAnn Verburg, and Henry Wessel. The gallery's affiliation with The Pace Gallery has also created close working relationships with, and representation of, Chuck Close, Paul Graham, Hai Bo, Richard Learoyd, Michal Rovner, Lucas Samaras, and Kiki Smith. The gallery has contributed to photography's growth by mounting exhibitions featuring the most distinguished practitioners of the medium, and has also assisted in the development of many new artists' careers. Pace/MacGill Gallery is proud to be a part of The Pace Gallery family, one of New York City's premier modern and contemporary art spaces. The synergism between Pace/MacGill's partners has allowed access to the most important private and institutional collectors around the world, as well as the opportunity to exhibit photography in the context of The Pace Gallery and its related venues. The gallery employs an experienced staff that is compassionate to both the artists' and clients' needs, and knowledgeable within the medium of photography and beyond.
