About PAG - Pierre-Antoine Gatier Studio

PAG was founded in 1991 by Pierre-Antoine Gatier, chief architect of historic monuments and general inspector of historic monuments in France. The agency's 40+ architects, heritage architects, art historians and landscape architects are involved in preservation and conservation projects for major monuments in France and abroad, including the Domaine de Chantilly (2005 to 2020), the Bourse de Commerce (2020), the Eiffel Tower (since 2017) and the Opéra Comique (since 2009) in Paris, the Villa Medici (since 2013) and the Palazzo Farnese (since 2018) in Rome, the Ecole de Plein Air in Suresnes, the Palais des Papes in Avignon, the Abbaye de Saint Vaast in Arras and 40 buildings in the historic center of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In parallel with its expertise in ancient architecture, the agency has gradually specialized in the restoration of more recent buildings, and has set out to develop the methodological tools needed to solve the problems posed by their conservation. One of the essential components of this approach lies in understanding and recognizing the materials used in the architectural production of the past century, characterized by experimentation and constantly evolving methods of implementation. This specialization in more recent architecture is further embodied by the teaching provided by Pierre-Antoine Gatier and his team at the Centre des Hautes Études de Chaillot on the history and restoration of concrete and metal. He is also an associate professor of the DSA Architecture et Patrimoine program at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Paris Belleville, where he runs a teaching studio and heritage restoration courses.
