PAKISTAN YOUTH AND COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION (PYCA) Pakistan Youth and Community Association (PYCA) was established in 1993 as a non profit organisation supporting the educational, social, cultural and recreational needs of the Pakistani and other minority ethnic communities in Leicester. We are based at 58 Earl Howe Street, in the centre of Highfields in Leicester, an inner city area with a largely Asian community. OUR MISSION STATEMENT To assist members of the Pakistani and other minority ethnic individuals to develop themselves, in order to participate in mainstream society. OUR SERVICES Services to the community commenced when the Pakistan Centre opened in September 2000. We provide Educational, cultural, social, advice and support services in an environment tailored to specific cultural and religious needs of our community and where young people and women feel confident, comfortable and are encouraged to become lifelong learners. While offering much-needed services to the local community, and in line with its aims, PYCA has successfully furthered community cohesion through its inclusive approach towards members of all cultures and backgrounds. One of our key strengths is promoting equal opportunity and community cohesion, presently about 50% of our users are non-Pakistani. As we work in the heart of the community, we are often the first point of contact for people and families with economic, social, educational or mental health issues, but we also support families and individuals who may have been referred from other agencies. PYCA is an accredited information, advice and guidance (IAG) centre with MATRIX accreditation, and we also were awarded IIP status. We are also an authorised centre for OCR, NOCN, FUTURE Awards & Qualifications and HIGHFIELDS Awarding Body. PYCA is a Company Limited by Guarantee No. 4812799 and a Registered Charity No. 1104329
