Panevėžys County Gabrielė Petkevičaitė-Bitė Public Library is the main library in the Northeast region of Lithuania. It has accumulated the most extensive universal collection of publications and is a developer of various cultural activities. The library is a centre of research, coordination, methodological assistance, training of library specialists, interlibrary loan services, bibliography, local history, and information for all the libraries operating in the territory defined by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania. The library was named after Gabrielė Petkevičaitė-Bitė, a famous Lithuanian author, public figure, and teacher of the late 19th and early 20th century.
