About PARAL

Problem: Denmark has over 524,000 diagnosed heart patients who require 64 times more consultations than the average citizen (Hjerteforeningen, 2023), leading to ineffective treatment, medication errors, and limited access to rehabilitation services within the healthcare system. This has created a need for continuous and remote monitoring solutions. Progressing the use of non-adhesive and user-friendly "fitness wearables" for continuous and remote monitoring of AF and HF patients degrades clinical reliability and data collectivity, limiting diagnostic and monitoring improvements (Guo et al., 2019). Complication: Traditional Holter ECGs, while clinically reliable, are uncomfortable, time-consuming to set up (taking over 15 minutes), and often require frequent clinical interventions when electrodes become loose. They are primarily designed for acute, localized monitoring of atrial fibrillation (AF) and heart failure (HF) patients in hospital settings but are increasingly inadequate for modern healthcare needs (Halimi et al., 2022; Carrington et al., 2022; MacDonagh et al., 2021; Hindricks et al., 2020). Solution: PARAL is in the proof-of-concept (POC) stage with 'The Link,' a patent-pending, personalizable MedTech wearable for continuous and remote cardiac monitoring. It offers comfort and can be personalized for any body size and clinical use case, while integrating gold-standard, non-adhesive 12-lead ECG.
