About Parent-Child Psychology
At Parent-Child Psychology, we are dedicated to supporting families by drawing on our extensive experience to enhance family dynamics, boost parental confidence, reduce challenging behaviours in children, and help set the foundation for a bright and successful future. We provide Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), which is not your typical sit with a psychologist treatment. When children are young it makes sense that they do not see a psychologist one on one. Parents spend more time with their child, so it is more appropriate to empower them with the skills to improve their child’s behaviour. Telehealth PCIT (iPCIT) brings therapy directly into the family home, the very environment where parenting unfolds in all its complexity. This unique approach lets us see the real deal—the everyday challenges, routines, and interactions that shape family dynamics. By working with clients in their natural setting, we gain deeper insights into the authentic moments that matter most, helping us provide support that’s practical, effective, and tailored to individual real-life needs. PCIT can assist with: - Aggression - Tantrums - Attention-Seeking - Hyperactivity/Impulsivity - Defiance/Non-Compliance - Oppositional Behaviour - Screen Time - Feeding How PCIT Supports GP’s and Paediatricians: ✔️ Clarifies diagnoses—By addressing parenting and behavioural factors first, you can more accurately assess underlying conditions such as ADHD or anxiety. ✔️ Provides an effective behavioural alternative to medication, or complements medical treatment when necessary. ✔️ Utilises multiple Mental Health Care Plans (child AND parent), allowing ongoing Medicare-funded support. ✔️ Fully telehealth-based, making it accessible to families anywhere in Australia. ✔️ Highly effective—Families who complete PCIT report significant improvements. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with us if you would like to learn more.
