About Parker's Room Training Lab
Parker’s Room Training Lab was founded in 2021 as a pediatric home health training center. Our focus with this endeavor was to open a teaching lab specifically for pediatric home health nurses. We found general training for nurses in our field to be inadequate, especially considering hospital standards, so we sought to change the culture of what training is within the home health industry. Through our lab, we offer in-house CEUs (written and published by Chantal Torrain)—those are: G-Button (6.6 hrs), Trach Care, Nursing (5.3 hrs), Trach and Vent, Respiratory (7 hrs), Central Venous Line (3.3 hrs), and Ethics and Boundaries (1.5 hrs). We offer these CEUs to nurses employed by LaLa and to pediatric nurses in DFW in general. Our goal is to become the central training site for pediatric home health in Texas. We also host nursing schools for clinical and preceptorship rotations; that is usually a 5-day course running through all our CEU offerings, plus more training on all trach and vent machines and a day working with our high-fidelity pediatric simulation mannequin. In just the last year, we’ve hosted rotations from UT-Arlington, Concorde Career College, Arlington Community College, and the Chicago School of Nursing in our lab—totaling nearly 100 students that have come through our lab in just the last year!
