About Parque Arenas

Quebrada Morales or Valle de las Arenas, is located around the San José Volcano at the start of Cajón del Maipo, Chile. The valley is home to vast glaciers and glacial lagoons, imposing mountains, important archaeological and geological sites, and flora and fauna, such as the guanaco and condors. It is a special place, only two hours from bustling Santiago, where one can go and walk alone in nature. It is a place that deserves our protection and must be accessible to all people. We are happy to tell you that Quebrada Morales has new owners and management and that we are in the process of creating a new conservation project for the valley. The mission of Parque Arenas is to preserve natural resources for the enjoyment, education and inspiration of this and future generations. We are in the initial stages of forming this park and creating our management strategy. We ask that you first be patient with us. Parks cannot be built in a day, and achieving our conservation goal will be a lifelong project, with the help of many people. Second, we ask for your help. This is a park for the people, so we will need your help and support to create it.
