About Partnerships for Global Surgery (PGS)

Our mission is to empower humanitarian surgeons to deliver exceptional global surgical care through bidirectional partnerships, while fostering self-sustainability and strengthening local surgical capacity through needs-driven education, service, and research. Our vision is to build sustainable systems that expand access to safe, affordable, and complex surgical care, closing gaps and improving outcomes for patients in low- and middle-income countries. At Partnerships for Global Surgery, we take a comprehensive and strategic approach to improving surgical care systems worldwide. 1. Our work begins with a needs assessment to identify gaps in knowledge, skills, and resources within local healthcare systems. 2. Next, we connect with individuals and organizations capable of addressing these gaps, fostering meaningful collaborations. 3. We then design educational materials, curricula, and training programs tailored to bridge the identified gaps and empower local providers. 4. Finally, we capture and analyze data to evaluate progress, measure the impact on patients, and identify opportunities for continuous quality improvement. Through this structured process, we strive to create sustainable, high-impact solutions that advance global surgical care.
