Patten University is a private, non-profit university affiliated with the Patten Educational Foundation ("PEF") and accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC). The Distance Education Accrediting Commission is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a recognized accrediting agency. The Distance Education Accrediting Commission is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). The university was previously named American Graduate University. It is separate from the closed institution also named "Patten University" founded by PEF.
