About Pelican Parcels
The only Baby Bank in Brighton and Hove for children aged 0 to 12 yrs, Pelican Parcels takes new and preloved donated items from families who no longer need them, and gifts them to families who do. We have six main projects: Essentials Parcels: Helping children and pregnant mums by gifting clothing, toys, buggies, nappies, formula, toiletries, and other essential items School Uniforms: Working with schools to provide new, unbranded school uniforms, PE kits, and shoes to children receiving free school meals Foodbank Partnerships: Providing partner foodbanks with nappies and formula A Good Night’s Sleep Project: Delivering safe and warm sleep through gifting Moses baskets, cots, single beds and bedding bundles to children who do not have a bed of their own Play & Learn: Ensuring all children have access to books and toys; through our parcels, nursery partners and festival gifts Celebrations Project: Ensuring all children experience the joy of a gift to open on birthdays and during special holidays Our vision is a community in which families and carers have the essentials they need for their babes and children. We operate on a referral basis and do not support individuals or families directly. Referrals are made by council and health professionals including midwives, health visitors, social workers, children’s centres, schools as well as other local charities including foodbanks, domestic violence charities and refugee agencies. Our service is provided free of charge with no assessment criteria - donations go directly to the families at no cost to them. Pelican Parcels is a registered charity in England and Wales (1179866), founded in 2018. We rely on the generosity of our local community and businesses based in the area for running costs and volunteers.
