About Pembroke College, Oxford

Founded in 1624, Pembroke is a lively and vibrant academic community, based in beautiful grounds in the heart of Oxford. We are an interdisciplinary community of scholars at all stages of their academic careers and from all around the world and a proud host of several research groups. Our students and operational and academic staff work closely together on projects ranging from increasing biodiversity awareness in schools to organising charity bake sales. Our students excel not only academically but also in sport, art, music, and drama. We are the first college to have its own art gallery and collection, the Pembroke College Emery Gallery, which hosts several exciting exhibitions organised by students. Pembroke also has its own illustrious Jazz Band as well as the more traditional College Choir and our students put on an annual Pembroke Musical in our Pichette Auditorium. Students can join the Pembroke College Boat Club for free; our Women’s First Eight recently won both the Torpids and Summer Eights Headships! Through our Access and Outreach programmes, including OxNet, Pembroke prepares students from a diverse range of backgrounds to apply to the UK’s top universities, in line with our belief that all those with academic talent should have the opportunity to experience an Oxford education. We are very proud of our global alumni community made up of individuals who have gone on to pursue a wide variety of careers; from being a gold-winning Paralympic cox to starting enterprises which focus on disability inclusion in the workplace.
