About People in Education

People in Education is a digital media arts program committed to humanizing schooling by facilitating space for connection, curiosity and reflection. We are a sponsored project of Allied Media Projects. We bring media artists-in-residence into Detroit public schools to facilitate student-led community investigations, which culminate in Media Projects. We offer a yearlong teacher fellowship program called the Rida Institute through which teachers gain the skills to nurture authentic youth voice and leadership in their classrooms. Additionally, we work with a team of youth researchers who engage in participatory action research methods to explore our mission of humanizing schooling.
