About Peoples Budget Texas PBTX
Peoples Budget Texas, a participatory budgeting process, is a democratic process in which community members directly decide how to spend public budget. PB gives ordinary people real decision-making power over real money. The process was first developed in Brazil in 1989, and there are now over 10,000 participatory budgets around the world, most at the municipal level. Peoples Budget Texas is creating the first state/nation wide platform so schools, towns, cities, and counties may implement a participatory budgeting process. Once Peoples Budget Texas is running, it will be the largest participatory democratic exercise in the history of the United States.
